Abstract
Objective: This study is designed to evauate the effect of ageing on postural sway and limb load asymmet¥ç(LLA) according to ¶ìSU¿Ü interception in normal adult.

Method: One hundred and seventy three healthy subjects(78 males and 100 females whose age was 50.2 ¡¾ 13.8 years-old) volunteered. Subjects was di¶ìded into 2 age group whose gender ratio showed relatively even distribution. Old age group include the people whose age is above 60 years. Young age group include the people whose age is below 60 years. Postural sway and body weight distribution were recorded while the subject was standing on two adjacent force platforms(Mediance?: HumanTech Inc. Korea) during 90s trial. All suºñects chose a comfortable stance with feet apart, slightly turned out. and asked to look straight ahead at a fixed point in a quiet room.

Results: The result indicate that postural sway and LLA were significantly associated with ageing. In young age group, there is no significant change in postural sway and LLA accorÀÌng to visual interception. In old age group. postural sway is increased significantly during ¶ìsual interception.

Conclusion. Postural sway and LLA were related with the ageing process. Especially visual ability is important to old people in balance control. And the evaluation of postural sway and LLA will be necessary in old age group for the prevention of fall.
